Please be aware of scams regarding the System for Award Management (SAM). The following information was shared in a recent LinkedIn post by Jutta Bangs, APEX Counselor at the University of Tennessee APEX Accelerator:
"There are many email scams going around regarding the System for Award Management (SAM). 3rd parties are telling businesses that they have to pay to get registered as a new entity. This is false!
We have been made aware of a new scam that is actually circulated via USPS. In the fine print you see a small disclaimer that the sender is not a government entity, however we see businesses fall victim to these scams. See the image below of the scam to protect yourself.
a) SAM registration and renewal is always free directly at "www.sam.gov."
b) The APEX Accelerator assists at no charge with this, and other government contracting related issues."
