The ITER Tokamak Dust Filter System (TDFS) contains six (6) dust filters that stops dust particulates, mainly the activated dust (mainly tungsten and beryllium), from reaching the roughing pumps during Tokamak pump down or vacuum vessel maintenance or detritiation. The TDFS consists of primary dust filters (x4) and secondary dust filters (x2) with associated filter elements, process pipework and pipe supports for primary dust filter systems and secondary dust filter system, dust proof and all-metal pneumatic actuated gate valves, as well as manual valves for test ports, double-walled bellows with some being remote handling compatible, ITER-style flanges with some having remote handling features, remote handling platform, lifting feature, support rails, and remote handling multiport connector for primary dust filters, temporary trolly support and adapter frame for primary dust filters, support frame and integrated valve box for secondary dust filters, and instrumentation (e.g. temperature sensors, gamma monitors, absolute pressure sensors, differential pressure sensors, switches, electrical feedthroughs) with mechanical supports and container for double containment of the pressure sensors. The successful vendor will demonstrate that they can meet the design requirements of this technical
specification. The successful vendor’s proposal must also demonstrate they are capable of generating the design and calculation documentation as well as performing the validation and quality activities. Requirements are defined in the Technical Specification (803f11ca) and the design Statement of Work (807014e1).
The successful vendor will bid on the total contract which will be split into two phases. Phase one encompasses the design of the TDFS according to SOW 807014e1. Phase two encompasses the fabrication, testing, and shipment of the TDFS according to SOW 807015f4. Given the successful completion of phase one, US ITER will award phase two to the same vendor that performed phase one. Phase two will result in the delivery of the TDFS and associated equipment described by the technical specification (803f11ca), along with any special tools needed for installation or maintenance of the equipment.
